Qualifications

Charlie Stewart-Brown and Indiv Yoga have earned several levels of approved certification and qualifications to ensure best-practices and high quality is passed on to students. Read Charlie’s profile at Yoga Alliance.

Charlie's Yoga Alliance Qualifications

Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. An E-RYT 500 teacher must have successfully completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training program that is registered with Yoga Alliance and taught a minimum of four years since completing training with a 200-hour RYS.

Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher. Teachers can register as a RCYT if they have successfully completed both a 200-hour yoga teacher training program and a 95-hour kids yoga teacher training—in either order.

Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher. Teachers can register as a RPYT if they have successfully completed both a 200-hour yoga teacher training program and an 85-hour prenatal yoga training—in either order—that are registered with Yoga Alliance. Applicants must submit 30 teaching hours in prenatal yoga which must be performed after completing a program with a RPYS (Registered Prenatal Yoga School).

Registered Yoga School. This standard describes the Yoga Alliance’s requirements for a Registered Yoga School that offers the 200 hours yoga teacher training course. Topics for registered teacher trainings must be relevant to five educational categories.

Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. The YACEP designation is designed for experts in the yoga community to set themselves apart and teach courses that qualify as Continuing Education hours for RYTs. Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT’s) who take courses with a YACEP can trust that their training counts toward meeting their Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Requirements.

The Yoga Alliance. The Yoga Alliance is the most highly respected, internationally recognised credentialing organization of the yoga community worlwide, renowned for having the highest yoga standards.

Loving the teaching style of my current Yoga teacher who also did his training with Charlie, I decided to take the opportunity this year and i am super happy with my decision! Charlie creates a warm, safe and compassionate environment without dogma, focusing on early teaching experience during the course and taking the theoretical part very serious which I really appreciated. The course deepened my understanding of Yoga’s physical and mental aspects, the connection between muscles, joints, body systems and the mind, and how classes can be set up to benefit both body and mind.
Practical sessions were a key part of the learning experience, providing hands-on teaching practice and valuable feedback from both peers and Charlie. This helped foster rapid progress in teaching, allowing for the development of a natural rhythm and effective class structure.
After the course I feel ready to apply my knowledge as a teacher in a safe way. The course also expanded my view on how Yoga and teaching Yoga can be applied in different settings.

Not only the group was great and there was so much respect for every single one, Charlie is an amazing teacher!!! You can feel how much she stands for yoga and all its values and principles and I feel so blessed to have been part of it. Charlie shared her vast yogic knowledge and experience in a wonderful way during the course, taking us through a huge array of topics and experiences in great detail.
The way the course was structured allowed our knowledge to build in a natural way, creating a wonderful foundation for our future teaching. The mix of practical and theoretical learning, and her ability to share so many insightful real life examples really brought this course to life. From the start, the group coalesced into a cohesive and convivial unit, all down to Charlie's empathetic and skilled teaching, but also her light and friendly touch beyond the yoga mat.  It was an well-planned mix of yoga, meditation, Qigong and walking in the snowy landscape, sometimes in silence.
