My Personal Experience Teaching Kids Yoga

Over the last 15 years I’ve worked with children from 3 years old upwards and have seen the incredible effects that yoga (including breathing exercises, mindfulness, and meditation) can have on their mental and physical development.  I’ve specialized in yoga therapy for children with special needs, especially with those on the autism spectrum, and those with ADHD.  With the latter, I have worked closely with parents to incorporate different elements of yoga into the child’s daily life, enabling them to reduce the amount of medication the child is taking.  Through yoga, children on the spectrum can learn coping mechanisms and tools to help them handle the demands of their social and school life, and find comfort and calm in times of distress.  Some of the children I’ve worked with, now have careers, or are at university around the world, and many have contacted me to let me know that they are still benefiting from the breathing, stretching, or mindfulness exercises they learnt in my classes.

Charlie began practicing yoga and meditation over 27 years ago as a recommendation for her severe anxiety, and has been teaching for over 15 years to people of all ages and abilities.
